Sending Some Love and Happy Holidays Your Way

It’s hard to believe that a year ago this blog was little more than a twinkle in the eye of this candy lover, but wow – has this year flown by! As reindeer hooves clatter on your roof and Santa drops some presents through your chimney, I just want to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my wonderful readers! Candy lovers really do see the sweeter side of life, and I just think you’re a great bunch. Hugs!

My Christmas gift to you? Oh, just a humble little collage of Valentine’s Day candy delight ideas – because celebrating one holiday with another is just better.

Some eye candy for my blog-reading loves:

Mouthwatering Prices: The Heart Shaped Lollipops Edition

If I could describe myself in three little words during Valentine’s Day, it would be these: Swooning for sweets! I have a “whole lotta love” in my life, and whether I’ve got a beau for Valentine’s Day or not, I celebrate it like it’s the loveliest day of the year. After all, what’s not to love about love?

I’m a big believer in the practice of gifting yourself – we all have such busy lives, even moi, so why not reward ourselves by buying a special Christmas gift for yourself, or picking up that Valentine’s Day candy that you really want? Life is short, so indulge in the things that make you happy.

An oh, heart shaped lollipops do just that for me! I’d so much rather receive a bouquet of lollipops any day over the real thing, and I see no problem with making a lollipop bouquet for myself on Valentine’s Day. I’m already combing through all the online candy stores out there to find the best heart shaped lollipops deals, and I’m of course bringing them to my lovely readers! Here’s a sampling of my favorites:

I’ll be posting more Valentine’s Day candy deals as I wonder around online, so stay tuned. And as always, stay sweet!

Mrs. Claus’s Favorite: Christmas Wreath Cupcakes

I truly think that there is just not enough garland and tinsel in the world – if I had it my way, the holidays would be coated in shimmer and shine, with a mistletoe atop every doorway. I know it’s going to come as a mega-watt surprise to you that many of my holiday gifts are candy and goodie creations to add some holiday yum to gift exchanges. I found this delectable morsel idea on, and I needed to share. Just hope no one on my gift list is reading!

Makes 12 cupcakes

  • Vanilla cupcake mix
  • 3 tablespoons of orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • Vanilla buttercream frosting (or your signature buttercream recipe)
  • Silver or festive cupcake wrappers
  • Red and green mini chocolate balls (sixlets)
  • Red shoestring licorice

1. Preheat the oven according to the directions on the vanilla cupcake mix box.
2. Make the batter according to the box, but add in the orange zest and orange juice.
3. Resist the urge to consume all the batter.
4. Bake the cupcakes according to the time on the box.
5. When finished, allow the cupcakes to cool for about twenty minutes.
6. Frost the cupcakes.
7. Spread the green chocolate balls in a circle along the border of the cupcake to form the wreath. Place two red chocolate balls together as the “holly berries” in the wreath.
8. Tie a small piece of red shoestring licorice into a bow. Press it into the cupcake, along the side of the red and green wreath.
9. Place into cupcake boxes, and gift to all those who count themselves lucky enough to be on your gift list!
